RE: Food pairings that make you say YUM and others go YUCK!

I dip my grilled cheese sandwiches in ketchup. My kids do too. Other people look at us funny.

RE: Donating blood. Have you been rejected?

I am on the permanently banned list for possible Mad Cow Disease - spent a lot of time in the UK. Used to give regularly.
I am also very appreciative that there are very strict regulations for blood donations. Those who complain would be speaking very differently if they or their child received AIDs-tainted blood, or some other deadly malady.
GM
I definitely agree that strict health guidelines should be in place. However, the reason I am banned isn't quite that. I would love to give, but because of something someone else did, not because of any health issues with me, I cannot. It's a weird situation.

Well...I have a yuck that others think is yum. I cannot stand strawberries and chocolate together. Yuck!

RE: Pet Picture Fun -- the tongues are out!

I didn't take the pic...and she's not my horse. But, we do know the horse, so maybe that counts.

Goofy look on both of their faces...and they're really so cute in real life.

RE: Donating blood. Have you been rejected?

I cannot donate either. Silly reason that makes absolutely no sense and makes me quite mad. Not a health-related issue at all.

RE: What do I look like?

Having trouble finding pictures of me. I'm usually the one on the other side of the camera. But I kinda like this one.

Vacuum cleaner?

My vacuum cleaner is dying. What have you all found to be the best for picking up dog and cat hair. We have mostly hardwood floors, but have a few area rugs and Jake's blonde hair really shows up on the black parts of the rug in my bedroom.
Not sure if I can afford a Dyson, though my neighbor swears by hers.

One of my favorite quotes is from her...“I am learning all the time. The tombstone will be my diploma.”
Looks like she earned her diploma. Godspeed.

RE: Saying goodbye to '08 - good thing or not??

I will be very glad to see the end of 2008...and the beginning of a spankin' fresh new year. This year saw the end of my 18 year marriage with much accompanying heartache.
Like EdnDonna said, though...I refuse to let things get the best of me. I've made some wonderful friends and learned so much about myself. Here's to a bright shiny new year.

RE: Does this seem disrespectful?

My mother and her siblings grew up calling their parents by their first names. Never did call them mom and dad until they got older and realized other kids called theirs "mommy and daddy". They tried it out - my grandfather was ok with being "Daddy" but my grandmother is still "Bell" to this day. She didn't want to be called any maternal name.
My former husband calls his mom "Bet"...her name is Betty. It's an endearing nickname. Not disrespectful at all.

Rada knives - love them! Their tomato slicer will slice a tomato so thin you can read a newspaper through it.

RE: Any Pack-Rats out there?

Veronica,
is that what im going to have to do to get rid of a bunch of junk?
How funny. It's worked for me. I joke about how we were thinking of moving to a bigger house, but now that he's gone, I don't need to. He didn't take much when he moved, but it's amazing how much more room I have for my clothes.
We've been in this house for 13 years. There are things stuck in the backs of cabinets that haven't seen sunlight in a decade.

RE: Any Pack-Rats out there?

I'll be watching this thread. As I've mentioned on here before my husband and I split up earlier this year. I'm left with a ton of clutter that I thought he wanted...and he thought I wanted. It's not a big house, but it's overwhelming. My bedroom is looking better (except for one corner), but the rest of the house is still very cluttered.
